By using a small metal probe inserted into the hair follicle and applying a small electrical current. Depending on the technique used, the electrical current destroys the hair root.
Electrolysis has been shown to be permanent in over a century of use. Its permanency has been well recognized by knowledgeable physicians and is also testified to by hundreds of scientific articles published in medical literature.
No. Tweezing, waxing, shaving, and chemical creams all increase hair growth.
Laser hair removal is more expensive than Electrolysis. Depending on the hair type, laser can be only 50-80% semi-permanently effective. Laser is not very effective on grey, blonde, or red hair. It is also not very effective when sculpting/shaping eyebrows and other critical areas. Lastly, lasers are less effective on darker and tanned skin.

Electrolysis procedures do have a short healing phase. There may be some transient redness or swelling. Your Electrologist will advise you regarding what can be expected during the healing phase.
Any part of the body can be treated except the scalp, the eyelashes, inside the nose, and inside the ear canal.
Electrolysis requires a series of treatments given over a period of time. The length of time varies from person to person and is dependent on many factors such as the coarseness of the hair, the total area to be treated, how well you tolerate treatments, medication you may be taking, hormonal changes, and certain medical conditions.
Electrolysis works for all people, regardless of gender or race. It is especially beneficial for athletes, specifically swimmers, body builders, runners, bicyclists or any athletes where friction from their clothing produces sweating thus will increase hair growth in some of them aside from erythema ( redness/swelling). This could seriously affect their performance.
